The RobotGym UniGym™ All-in-One Full-Body Rehabilitation Robot is the world's first device covering hand, upper, and lower limb rehabilitation — a single 6kg portable rehabilitation robot that replaces a full physiotherapy equipment room with one compact, modular, app-connected system designed for home use, community rehabilitation, and institutional deployment.
Six Interchangeable Modules — Full Body Coverage
UniGym adapts 6 kinds of special training accessories that transform the single main unit into six distinct rehabilitation tools, each targeting a different body region and movement pattern:
- Rotation Module The primary upper limb module — the rotating disc interface provides smooth, controllable rotational resistance for shoulder, elbow, and wrist rehabilitation. The rotational torque range (0–6 Nm) and speed (0–60 rpm) are adjustable in real time via the app.
- Pull Rope Module A retractable pull rope (0–140 cm range) with adjustable resistance (2–10 kg) converts the UniGym into a cable machine equivalent — enabling pulling, rowing, and reaching exercises for shoulder, scapular, elbow, and core rehabilitation. Combined with the door mounting bracket, the pull rope module enables a broad range of functional strength exercises in standing, seated, and supine positions.
- Arm Cycling Handles Bilateral arm cycling handles attach to the rotation module for upper extremity ergometry — enabling bilateral arm pedalling for cardiovascular conditioning, shoulder girdle endurance training, and bilateral upper limb coordination rehabilitation.
- Forearm Handle A forearm support handle for patients with reduced grip strength or distal upper limb weakness — enabling proximal shoulder and elbow exercises without requiring the patient to grip the rotation module.
- Foot Pedals Bilateral foot pedals attach to the rotation module for seated lower limb cycling — enabling hip and knee flexion/extension exercise, ankle mobilisation, and lower extremity cardiovascular conditioning. The pedal interface supports both active exercise (patient-driven pedalling) and passive-assist exercise (motor-driven with the patient's legs moving with the device) for patients with limited voluntary lower limb movement.
- Rehabilitation Glove (Pneumatic) The pneumatic glove supports full-body workout covering finger joints — a pneumatically actuated rehabilitation glove that assists or resists finger flexion and extension for hand rehabilitation following stroke, peripheral nerve injury, hand surgery, or arthritis. The pneumatic glove is included in the Full, Kids, and Medical editions.
Four Training Modes — Clinical Versatility
- Active Mode Patient-generated movement against the device's adjustable resistance. The resistance level and speed are adjusted in real time via the app to match the patient's current capacity and the prescribed exercise intensity.
- Passive Mode Motor-driven movement with the patient's limb being moved by the device — for patients with minimal voluntary movement who require assisted range of motion exercise, spasticity management, or early-stage motor re-education.
- Active-Assisted Mode Hybrid motor assistance — the device detects the patient's voluntary movement intention and assists when effort falls below the target threshold. Active-assisted training is the evidence-based optimal mode for motor re-learning in neurological rehabilitation.
- Resistance/Challenge Mode Progressive resistance training — the device applies configurable resistance against the patient's movement for strengthening exercises. Resistance parameters are adjustable in real time via the app.
Five Safety Measures — Worry-Free Home Use
UniGym incorporates 5 safety measures including a built-in suction cup to ensure worry-free training.
- Suction Cup Base Anchoring The integrated suction cup base (14.7cm diameter) locks the unit to smooth surfaces with up to 45 kg longitudinal holding force — preventing device movement during exercise and providing a stable base for high-effort training sessions.
- Rotational Torque Limiting The rotational torque is software-limited to a maximum of 6 Nm — preventing the device from delivering forces that could cause joint injury even if the patient loses control of the exercise.
- Speed Limiting Maximum rotational speed is software-limited to 60 rpm — preventing inadvertent high-speed movement that could exceed the patient's safe joint range of motion.
- Pull Rope Resistance Limiting Pull rope resistance is capped at 10 kg — appropriate for home rehabilitation exercise ranges and preventing excessive loading on post-surgical or recovering structures.
- Emergency Stop The app and/or device provide immediate session termination capability — enabling the patient or caregiver to instantly halt all device motion in any situation.
