GX-330 Hip Abduction — Gluteus Medius Strengthening for Pelvic Stability
The OG Wellness PREFIT GX-330 is a clinical-grade hip abduction machine engineered to strengthen the gluteus medius — the primary pelvic stabiliser muscle — in order to reduce wobbling of the pelvis during walking and improve the steadiness of gait. Pelvic instability during the single-leg stance phase of walking — characterised by a visible Trendelenburg drop of the pelvis toward the swing leg — is one of the most common and functionally significant gait abnormalities in elderly patients, post-surgical rehabilitation patients, and individuals with neurological or orthopaedic lower limb conditions. The GX-330 directly targets the primary muscular cause.
Distinguished within the PREFIT GX series by two clinical engineering features — a variable resistance mechanism for greater hip abduction range, and a backrest that adjusts to near-parallel with the floor for maximum gluteus medius isolation — the GX-330 is designed for the specific challenge of strengthening a muscle that is both anatomically difficult to target and functionally essential for safe, balanced gait.

Variable Resistance Mechanism — Greater Hip Abduction Range
Like the GX-320, the GX-330 incorporates a variable resistance mechanism — but applied here to hip abduction rather than knee extension. The variable mechanism reduces resistance as the leg approaches the end of the abduction range, enabling patients to achieve a greater range of hip abduction than standard fixed-resistance hip abduction machines permit. This wider range of training motion ensures that the gluteus medius is loaded through its full functional arc, producing more complete strength development and greater carryover to the functional pelvic stability required during walking.
Backrest Angle — Near-Parallel to Floor for Gluteus Medius Isolation
The GX-330's most unique clinical feature is its backrest angle adjustment capability — specifically the ability to lower the backrest to a position almost parallel to the floor. The backrest angle directly determines which gluteal muscle fibres are most loaded during hip abduction: an upright backrest position loads the more superficial tensor fasciae latae (TFL) more prominently, while a more reclined backrest — approaching parallel to the floor — shifts the load onto the deeper gluteus medius fibres that provide pelvic stabilisation.
For clinical goals specifically targeting pelvic stability and Trendelenburg correction, the near-parallel backrest position delivers maximum gluteus medius activation — isolating the target muscle more precisely than any fixed-backrest hip abduction machine can achieve. The therapist can adjust the backrest angle to match the targeted muscle and the patient's clinical presentation, and the adjustment is performed while seated without requiring the patient to dismount between position changes.
Low Seat & Lockable Leg Pads — Safe, Easy Access
The GX-330 features a low seat height and lockable leg pads — two safety features that work together to enable safe, independent access for patients with limited lower limb strength and reduced hip mobility. The low seat reduces the standing-to-seated drop distance, making sitting down and standing up from the machine significantly easier for elderly and post-surgical patients. Lockable leg pads secure the limbs safely in position before exercise begins and can be released before the patient stands — preventing inadvertent leg pad movement during access that could cause loss of balance.
