Spine3D™ — Radiation-Free LiDAR 3D Spinal Reconstruction | Posture Analysis

SKU SPINE-3D

Spine3D™ is an innovative non-invasive three-dimensional optoelectronic detection system of the back and spine that allows an accurate assessment of vertebral pathologies and postural alterations. Spine3D™ uses LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology combined with RGB and infrared Time-of-Flight (ToF) cameras to deliver markerless, radiation-free 3D acquisition of the patient's shoulders, back and pelvis — not affected by ambient light interference.

The Science: Why LiDAR for Spinal Analysis

  1. LiDAR — Precise 3D Surface Mapping Without Radiation LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology presents a promising radiation-free alternative for scoliosis assessment by generating accurate three-dimensional models of the body's anatomy through the use of laser pulses to measure distances.
  2. MEMS Sensor Accuracy The system employs a high-precision MEMS sensor that achieves theoretical accuracy values of ≤1° in environments free from magnetic interference. The post-processing software automatically matches collected data to each vertebra through sensor fusion algorithms and gain filter control. The MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical System) sensor integration enables the point cloud data to be precisely correlated to specific vertebral levels.
  3. Bilateral Weight-Bearing Acquisition — Matching EOS The data collection method of 3D-SSS mirrors that of EOS, capturing frontal and lateral spinal parameters simultaneously under weight-bearing conditions, closely reflecting the patient's actual posture in daily life. Weight-bearing spinal assessment is clinically critical.

Key Features

  1. Radiation-Free — Unlimited Repeat Assessments : Completely eliminating the need for constant control radiographs, Spine3D is an indispensable device for follow-up during all phases of patient treatment. With no ionising radiation, there is no dose consideration limiting the frequency of assessments. Spine3D can be used at every clinic visit — pre-treatment, immediately post-intervention, at 6-week follow-up, at 3-month review — without accumulating radiation exposure.
  2. Markerless Acquisition — Fast, Comfortable, No Preparation Thanks to a markerless, radiation-free and non-invasive scanning method, Spine3D allows 3D acquisition of the patient's shoulders, back and pelvis. No retroreflective markers, no skin adhesives, no positioning jigs, no patient preparation beyond exposing the back. The patient stands in a standard position and the scan is completed in seconds.
  3. RGB + Infrared ToF Cameras — Ambient Light Independence Acquisition with RGB and infrared cameras (ToF cameras) are not affected by ambient light interference. The infrared ToF (Time-of-Flight) camera component operates on the same physical principle as LiDAR — measuring the time of infrared light pulse return — but across the full sensor array simultaneously, enabling dense 3D surface acquisition in any lighting condition, including full daylight, clinical fluorescent lighting, or dimmed examination environments.
  4. X-Ray Import & Overlay Spine3D allows the import and overlapping of RX and images for immediate feedback. Existing radiographic images can be imported into the Spine3D software and overlaid on the 3D surface reconstruction — enabling direct visual comparison of the radiographic and 3D surface data for the same patient.
  5. Normative Reference Comparison Spine3D software presents users with an option to compare different examination results of a patient against normal postural alignment values. This makes it effortless for physicians, chiropractors, or paediatricians to ascertain if the numbers are within the normal range.
  6. Automatic Clinical Report : The automatic PDF report is generated immediately following assessment — including all measured parameters, 3D visualisations from multiple planes, normative comparison, and clinical interpretation. The report is patient-friendly in language and presentation.
  7. Pre/Post Treatment Comparison : Spine3D enables direct parameter-by-parameter comparison of assessments across any number of time points — enabling objective quantification of scoliosis progression, orthotic treatment effectiveness, physiotherapy rehabilitation response, and post-surgical spinal alignment change.
  8. Sections, Cutting Planes & Multi-Angle 3D Viewing Spine3D provides sections, cutting planes, frontal, sagittal and transverse axes within the 3D reconstruction — enabling the clinician to interrogate the spinal model at any level, in any plane, and from any angle.
  9. Stand-Alone Device — No Installation Prerequisites The Spine3D system is a ready-to-use stand-alone device that does not require installation prerequisites. Spine3D arrives ready to use.
  10. freeStep™ Integration — Unified Patient Assessment Spine3D is fully integrated with freeStep™ — Sensor Medica's multisuite biomechanical analysis software. Sensor Medica manages its devices with a comprehensive software suite, freeStep, which can perform static and dynamic analysis, stabilometry, and videography.
