MAT Gripper — 150kg Grip Strength Dynamometer with 99.5% NATA-Certified Accuracy
The MAT Gripper is a professional hand grip strength dynamometer built by Movement Assessment Technologies (MAT) — the Australian company trusted by over 30,000 clinicians, coaches, and allied health professionals worldwide with their strength assessment data. For too long, strength testing devices have been overpriced and slowed down assessment processes. MAT have taken what they've learned from the success of the Muscle Meter and applied it to grip strength testing with the Gripper — allowing you to assess grip strength quickly and easily.
Four Testing Modes — More Than Just Peak Force
Test and track different grip capacities using four unique testing modes — including max strength, dynamic and static endurance, and RFD.
- Max Strength Mode The foundational grip strength test — a brief maximal voluntary contraction measuring peak grip force. As simple as picking up the Gripper, pushing the on button and squeezing — start testing in less than 5 seconds. Peak force in kg or lb is displayed immediately on the device without needing the Measurz app — the Gripper is fully functional as a standalone peak force dynamometer. When paired with Measurz, the result is automatically saved to the client's profile, timestamped, and benchmarked against age- and sex-matched normative reference data.
- Static Endurance Mode The patient sustains a target grip force isometrically for a set duration — measuring the capacity to maintain grip force over time. Static endurance is clinically important for occupational assessments (sustained grip tasks), upper limb rehabilitation return-to-work clearance, and quantifying fatigue-related grip impairment in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and stroke.
- Dynamic Endurance Mode The patient performs repeated maximal grip contractions over a set number of repetitions or time period — measuring how grip force changes across repeated efforts. The Endurance Fatigue Index (%) is automatically calculated — quantifying the percentage force drop between the first and final repetitions, providing an objective measure of grip endurance capacity and neuromuscular fatigue resistance.
- Rate of Force Development (RFD) Mode RFD (kg/s) — Rate of Force Development — measures how quickly the patient can develop grip force from rest to maximum. RFD is a clinically distinct quality from peak force, reflecting the speed of neural motor unit recruitment and muscle contractile rate. It is particularly relevant in: sports performance (reactive grip demands in racket sports, ball sports, combat sports); fall prevention (the speed of grip response determines whether a hand rail grab prevents a fall); post-neurological rehabilitation (stroke patients often show disproportionate RFD deficits relative to peak force); and return-to-sport clearance where explosive grip demands must be quantified separately from sustained grip strength.
Measurz App — compatible with iOS, iPadOS, macOS (M1+), and most Android devices (Android 12+ with ARCore). : Normative Data Benchmarking Every grip strength result is automatically compared against Measurz's normative reference database — stratified by age and sex.
Longitudinal Client Tracking : All Gripper results are stored under the client's profile with timestamps.
Client Education : The Measurz app's visual data presentation — normative comparison charts, progression graphs, multi-parameter displays.
1000+ Additional Tests : Utilise the Gripper alongside the Muscle Meter with the Measurz app to track grip strength progression over time and compare to norms — performing 1000+ other tests.
