Curamotion Exer III—Table-Top Magnetic Resistance Exerciser for Shoulder and Arm

SKU EXER-III

The Curamotion Exer III is a table top magnetic resistance exerciser designed to improve circulation, muscle strength and joint range of motion in the shoulder, arm, wrist and upper body. It's made by Teamchang International Co. (Taiwan) under the Curamotion brand and is the horizontal seated version of the wall mounted Exer I and Exer IV. It's the machine that you'd use for a patient who is better off seated at a table than standing at a wall.

The patient is at a table, gripping the handle and turning it against smooth, adjustable magnetic resistance. Arm length, handlebar radius and resistance can all be set to suit the patient so that one unit can be used equally well with a very frail elderly patient and a much stronger post-injury patient.

Ultra-Quiet Magnetic Resistance: Smooth, Adjustable Loading

Resistance is generated magnetically so the unit runs very smoothly and almost silently (no friction, no cable noise, no gear noise). That makes it ideal for quiet ward and clinic environments where patients need to concentrate on the quality of their movement. There's a resistance control knob which allows the resistance to be varied continuously from very light (for acute, post-op or painful situations) through to a firmer resistance (for later stage strengthening). Resistance is applied equally in both directions.

Adjustable Arm Length & Handlebar Radius: Matching Range of Motion to the Patient

Two adjustments control how much movement the patient has to make:

  • Arm length: adjustable from 13" to 22" (33 cm to 56 cm), to fit different arm lengths and exercise intensities
  • Handlebar radius: adjusted quickly to change the size of the circle the hand travels, so the range of motion can be matched to the muscle and joint being treated

A small radius is appropriate for a painful or stiff shoulder in the early stages of recovery. The radius can then be gradually increased over successive sessions as range of motion returns, providing the therapist with a straightforward and repeatable method of progression.

Bi-Directional Rotation: Balanced Muscle Training

The handle can be turned both ways (clockwise and counter-clockwise) against resistance. Training in both directions equally loads the anterior and posterior shoulder and arm muscles and prevents the one-sided strength gains that would occur if you trained in just one direction. It also makes long rehab programmes a lot more interesting.

5-Function LCD Display: Real-Time Session Data

An automatic 5-function LCD computer shows:

  1. Stride count: total repetitions completed
  2. Strides per minute: current pace
  3. Time exercised: session duration
  4. Calories consumed: estimated energy use
  5. Scan: automatic cycling through all functions

Table-Top Design with Non-Skid Legs: Seated, Space-Saving Use

The Exer III is a table top unit with non-skid legs so it will sit securely on a standard table or desk without the need for wall mounting. The patient exercises whilst seated which is ideal for those who are unable to stand for long periods, for wheelchair users who can be positioned at a table and for the elderly. As there is no need for mounting it can be moved between treatment areas or used at home. An optional non-skid mat (sold separately) can be used to provide further stability on smooth surfaces.

Clinical Applications: Who is Exer III for?

  • Shoulder conditions: frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), post-op rotator cuff and shoulder repair rehab, impingement and general shoulder stiffness.
  • Arm, elbow and wrist: range of motion and strength recovery following fracture, tendon and ligament injury and prolonged immobilisation.
  • Neurological rehab: controlled, repeatable upper limb movement for stroke and other neurological patients who have preserved voluntary movement.
  • Older and deconditioned patients: gentle seated exercise to maintain circulation, strength and mobility.
  • General circulation and upper body conditioning: low impact exercise for those patients who simply can't do conventional upper body training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Exer III need to be fixed to a wall?
No. It is a table-top unit with non-skid legs and is used seated at a table, with no installation needed.

Can the resistance be adjusted?
Yes. A resistance control knob adjusts the magnetic load smoothly from very light to firmer settings.

How is the range of motion adjusted?
Arm length can be set between 13" and 22" (33 to 56 cm), and the handlebar radius can be adjusted to change the size of the circle the hand travels.

Can it be used in both directions?
Yes. Rotation is bi-directional, with resistance applied clockwise and counter-clockwise.

Is it suitable for frozen shoulder and post-surgical shoulder patients?
Yes, under physiotherapist guidance. Start with a small handlebar radius and light resistance, then progress as pain and range of motion allow.

Does it need electricity?
No. Resistance is magnetic and fully manual. The LCD display runs on a battery.
